Last night the Atlanta Georgia Civic Center was rocking when Angie Stone presented “Black Is Beautiful Tour”. I was invited to this fabulous event by Celebrity Make-up artist K-Tyler (www.k-tyler.com) The entire crowd was re-introduced to what true Soul Music sounds like with a soul-stirring Motown Revenue-like vibe. Angie Stone is a very prolific vocalist, songwriter, producer who has an extreme eye and ear for talent. Known for creating opportunities for others, she is rare because she doesn’t mind putting some of the shine on other artists who deserve the attention and praise. Last night was no different as she brung out Atlanta natives Anthony David & Algebra who had the crowd on the crowd on their feet with their hit “Forever More”. The chemistry and vocal marriage that Anthony & Algebra displayed seemed like they had been doing duets for years. Calvin Richardson joined Angie Stone on stage to sing a duet that they have not done in almost ten years. Raheem DeVaughn showed Atlanta why he is considered one of the best vocally & onstage as he ripped through track after track. The crowd was delighted with his going back to the “Old School” at times, he even went out into the crowd singing a classic from R&B group Jodeci. Angie then treated the hyped crowd to her funky new single titled “Rich Girl” where she unselfishly put the shine on her superb background vocalists to the delight of the crowd. This evening was connected to the 100 Black Men of Atlanta and Angie Stone and friends helped raise and presented a check to charity for $18,000!
